The Underpass Busking Season
The Downtown Rideau Business Improvement Area (DRBIA) invites buskers to help animate The Underpass! Street performances are considered a positive contributor to urban life. A busker is defined as one who provides entertainment on public property for a voluntary gratuity such as musicians, jugglers, mimes, dancers and other performers. Buskers may receive voluntary contributions from audiences without a license but may not actively solicit funds, which is in alignment with the Safe Streets Act.
Performances will be limited to a maximum of 4 hours and will be divided into two time slots (9am-1pm and 1pm – 5pm). No sound amplification will be permitted. The use of dangerous materials such as knives, swords, flammable liquids or fire is strictly prohibited.
