The DOWNTOWN Rideau Street DETAIL is an integral part of creating a welcoming experience in Ottawa’s Arts, Fashion & Theatre District. Providing “enhanced” services, Downtown Detail is on-street public space maintenance and reporting resources to augment basic city services. The Downtown Detail program works closely with the Downtown Ambassadors program. Together, they provide comprehensive clean and safe services impacting the visitor experience in Downtown Rideau.
DOWNTOWN Rideau Street DETAIL is a customized service provided by the Downtown Rideau Business Improvement Area (B.I.A.) under contract with an outsourced supplier. The B.I.A. is responsible for program development, hiring, implementation, communications and monitoring services. The supplier is responsible for training, managing personnel, reporting and evaluation. Staffing resources include: Ottawa Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Summer Student Employment Programs and City of Ottawa Summer Bucket Brigade.

- Pick up litter
- Sweep cigarette butts
- Tidy street furniture
- Pull weeds along lampposts and in sidewalks
- Remove posters from lampposts and surfaces
- Empty waste receptacles on Rideau Street
- Wash FXpoles
Additional Services as Required:
- Weekly graffiti removal from members street level property
- Power wash programming space
- Paint B.I.A. assets/property
- Snow removal around FXpoles
The B.I.A. encourages its members, as key stakeholders affecting the visitor experience in Downtown Rideau, to work with the B.I.A. and the City of Ottawa to maintain the public space in front of, and around, their property.
