Rideau Street Construction Spring 2013

180x200_rideaustreetTraffic will get a little busier downtown as the city resumes construction along Rideau St. Starting Monday April 15, 2013, work on the Rideau St. renewal project picks up, with work from King Edward Ave. to Chapel St. Detour signs will let drivers know where construction work will impact east and westbound traffic. Westbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane from Chapel St. to King Edward Ave. Eastbound traffic will detour via King Edward to St. Patrick St. Bus traffic heading east will be rerouted via Besserer St. to Chapel St., and then back onto Rideau St. Businesses will remain open as usual. The Rideau St. renewal project is a $28.9-million project that will replace ageing infrastructure and improve transportation in the downtown core. It is part of Ottawa on the Move, which includes capital projects to be completed by 2014. For traffic changes or more information, visit ottawa.ca.
