Further to the previous notifications, please note that blasting and hoe ramming operations at the eastern entrance for the Rideau Station of the Confederation Line Light Rail Transit Project is expected to continue the week of December 7, 2015, weather permitting.
Blasting and hoe ramming operations are expected to be carried out over the next several months to the end of February 2016. Blasting will be conducted intermittently Monday through Saturday between 7:00am and 5:30pm. Hoe-ramming will be completed during weekdays/weekends as required, as early as 7:00am.
All blast and hoe ramming vibration levels are carefully monitored to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations and to alleviate the possibility of damage to nearby structures.
Prior to each blast, the blast site will be cleared of all persons and secured. This will be followed by a series of warning whistles that will be sounded to alert all persons in the vicinity:
– Five short whistles – One minute to blast
– Three short whistles – Blast is imminent
– One long whistle – Blast is all clear
We wish to express our sincere appreciation in advance for your cooperation and understanding during this construction period.
