Located in the heart of Ottawa, intertwined with the city’s rich history and beautiful landscape, the Ottawa Little Theatre stands proudly at 400 King Edward Avenue. Offering a wide variety of genres from mystery to comedy, tragedy to farce, and classics to contemporary, it will be a breeze to find your best fit.
OLT began in 1913 with a group of dedicated women from the Canadian Federation of University Women who felt their community needed more theatre. Fast forward to over 45,000+ patrons walking through the doors annually to enjoy nine high quality, reasonably priced theatre productions – a success story indeed!
Box Office/Front of House Manager J.T Morris, pictured here, takes pride in working for and supporting the arts community with inspiration from his team of staff and volunteers that display diligence and passion on a daily. Recently, the OLT completed upgrades through a one million dollar+ Renew the Building renovation campaign, thanks to generous patron donations, and look forward to evolving improvements.
A highlight of 2018 took place spontaneously during the production of A Streetcar Named Desire. Naturally the bar was stocked with Stella Artois to play off the infamous “Stellaaaa” line from Stanley Kowalski. As a joke their bartender Josh told a patron to give his best impression of the line before being served his beer. He enthusiastically obliged and soon enough the whole lobby was following suit, setting a light hearted vibe to the start of what is a somewhat depressing show.
Showing now at OLT, and running March 20 – April 6, is Marvin’s Room by Scott McPherson, “one of the funniest plays of the year!” according to the New York Times. And keep in mind they offer several discounted rates – the perfect way to “Put a Little Theatre in your life!”
