‘TACO’ BOUT A PARTY! Not only does this Mexican restaurant host taquisas (taco parties), the street style food is 100% fresh and homemade, they are fully licensed, offer eat in, take out, catering, and executive events.
Si Siñor is celebrating its 1st anniversary this March 23, 2020. “In a short time, we have worked hard to build a loyal group of Mexican food lovers.” Says Hugo Crespo, the owner and operator.
Passionate about sharing his culture with Canadians, and the flavours of the street food he grew up on, make the recipe for success. “To be honest, every day is a best day. Every time I get to see [clients] faces full of happiness – because our food either reminds them of their life back in Mexico, or a time they visited, or is an introduction to a new flavour.” He pays great attention to detail when it comes to the client’s experience, whether a first time visitor or a regular.
From Mexico to Downtown Rideau – “What is there not to like?” He poses a rhetorical question. “The diversity of people, culture, everyone in this area is a unique part of what makes the downtown core the place to be; students, neighbours, homeless, business owners, really – what is not to like?”
Every person that crosses our path is an ideal customer, in my eyes, we are all the same – happy or not – we all have to eat. But if he has to choose, there are a couple who stand out;
“I have to mention one in particular, is a homeless guy that works hard every day asking for money so he can buy his steak burrito. He doesn’t like free things so he pays for it every time.”
Another super fan of Si Señor is “an awesome lady that orders the same four veggie tacos every day. She is always happy and is willing to share stories of her day,” says Hugo.
One of our funniest moments happened on a very busy day. “I was thinking of pizza while serving tacos, so I called out loudly to announce to a guest that his ‘ham pizza’ was ready! I meant to say ‘Pastor Tacos’…but everyone had a big laugh”
Speaking of “Pastor Tacos” (Pastor, Cochinita, Chorizo, Carnitas and suadero), you can count on it being a signature dish alongside our delicious signature Organic Blue Corn 10” Qhesadilla, which is gluten free and some the best vegan options on tacos, quesadillas, burritos, huaraches, tlacoyos, tortas, tlayudas and more.
What inspired Hugo to open the restaurant is “The idea of having something to share that I love and want everyone to try and love it as much as I do. “
Weekly specials include:
- Signature Taco N’ beer Tuesday
- Burrito n’ Soup Wednesday
- Torta (Mexican style panini) and can pop Thursday
Given that it’s the first year for the restaurant, Hugo’s focus is to build a name reputation and maybe open a location somewhere else. “For the moment we love the support of our neighbours and friends that visit us on a regular basis.”
