Squish

You won’t find regular gummy bears at Squish, North America’s original artisanal candy store, found in CF Rideau Centre. Instead you’ll be dazzled by over 100 gourmet flavours, some you’ve never heard of and all made with real fruits, spices and herbs.

Team Lead Randy Granados, pictured here, has been with Squish since the very beginning back in the fall of 2016. He loves what he does and counts Christmas Eve as one of his favourite days at work. You may wonder why, with all of the stressed out last minute shoppers, but because there were so many others in wonderfully high spirits, staff included, the day was festive and fun.

Randy shares a special moment: “I had this one woman who come in not looking for anything, and with nothing but a simple chit chat about herself I found that she is from Mexico and was really missing home. As someone who is from El Salvador I understood her completely. I combined our Mango Maracuja and our Chili Ginger Hearts to give a close representation of a traditional spicy mango candy. Needless to say, she fell in love and is now in the store every single week!”

Squish gives back to the community in several ways: supporting team members that want to donate time volunteering; selecting a specific candy and donating a percentage of profits to a chosen charity; and they LOVE giving candy away for good reasons, partnering with local and national not-for-profit events.

A customer favourite is the Prosecco Bear, a champagne flavour infused with pineapple and raspberry, offered in both vegan and sugar free options so all can enjoy. Randy is partial to the DinoSours, which he describes as “the perfect combination of sweet and sour.”

Not a day goes by without a friendly team member smiling at the entrance, offering samples of these delicious treats. If you happen to pass by and don’t see anyone, pop in and ask, they’re always happy to let you taste test!
